MOD's kiosks allow consumers to save movies onto an SD memory card, the same kind used to store digital photos.
SD card

Why are SD cards ideal?

The format has native security with the storage key built in. More importantly, they're open -- they're not locked into a proprietary format which means customers can place it into any device with an SD card reader.

Playback Experience

How (and where) do customers play their downloaded digital media?

Consumers who purchase digital music can download those files to an MP3-compatible player. Digital movies can be downloaded directly to portable players that support Windows Media DRM (WMDRM), and played on those devices.

Digital movies downloaded to portable storage devices like Flash memory or SD cards, will be protected by the GreenPlay open standards format and enable consumers to easily and securely download content and take it home.

In this scenario, the consumer will plug-in their SD card to any GreenPlay compatible player or device with an SD slot - for example, a set-top box, a PC, or next generation television - and experience the same high quality playback they're familiar with from physical media.
