MOD Systems Expands Board of Directors
eBay and Former Goldman Sachs Executives Take Active Role Driving Media-On-Demand Strategy for Leading Retail Solution ProviderMarch 31st, 2008 - Seattle
MOD Systems, an industry-leading provider of media-on-demand solutions for retailers, today announced that Matt Carey and Lawrence Calcano have joined its board of directors. Both will take active roles driving the company’s growth and technology strategy for providing media-on-demand solutions to the retail and entertainment industries.
Carey holds more than 20 years experience developing and executing strategies for some of the world’s most technologically sophisticated retail enterprises. He is the current chief technology officer of eBay Marketplaces where he is responsible for a technology organization that has built and maintained one of the most advanced online transaction platforms ever developed. He oversees eBay’s product development, architecture, project management, operations, information systems and research labs.
Carey is also the former chief technology officer and senior vice president of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. With Wal-Mart for more than 20 years, Carey directed the development and execution of the company’s technology strategy, supporting the company’s growth expansion around the globe.
“MOD Systems is behind some of the most forward-thinking deployments of technology in retail and is literally helping shape a new category of on-demand content delivery in retail,” said Carey. “This is an exciting opportunity and I’m very pleased to contribute to the development of MOD’s platform, operations, and global go-to-market strategy.”
Wall Street veteran Calcano spent 16 years with Goldman Sachs, most recently as a partner in the Investment Banking Division serving as co-head of the firm’s Global Technology Banking Group. During his tenure, Goldman Sachs’ Technology Group became the recognized leader in the technology industry for market share in all product lines such as Financing and Mergers and Acquisitions, and for its relationships with the industry’s most influential companies such as Analog Devices, AOL, Ciena, Dell, eBay, Microsoft, PTC, Yahoo! and others. Under Calcano’s leadership the group also built relationships with venture capital and private equity firms. Calcano was named five times to the Forbes Midas List, an annual ranking by Forbes Magazine of the best dealmakers in high-tech and life science venture capital.
“The experience being added to our board is outstanding,” said Anthony Bay, chairman of MOD Systems. “Our goal is to transform the way consumers shop for and buy entertainment content, and give retailers a means to thrive in the digital media age. We’re honored and thrilled to have Lawrence and Matt bring their expertise, time and energy to MOD Systems.”
