January 8th, 2007 - Seattle

MOD Systems, a leading provider of in-store digital media solutions, today demonstrated at 2007 International CES® an in-store DVD replication and sampling system as part of its digital media delivery platform for retailers. MOD Systems announced it is working with Sonic Solutions® and with Rimage Corporation to enable retailers and shoppers to burn music and movies to CD or DVD. MOD Systems also announced an agreement with ScreenPlay Inc., the world’s largest provider of movie trailer content from major and independent studios, which gives MOD Systems access to ScreenPlay’s movie and game trailer catalogue.

MOD Systems provides retailers with integrated hardware and software solutions for managing, merchandising and fulfilling digital media. The MOD Systems platform supports a wide range of consumer devices and delivery options including CD and DVD burning, as well as downloads direct to media devices such as MP3 players and media capable mobile phones.

“Sonic’s DVD On Demand™ technology offers key solutions that content providers require, such as powerful, automated DVD assembly for customized titles and compilation discs, along with Qflix™, Sonic’s technology and licensing program for CSS-protected DVD recording,” said Jim Taylor, senior vice president and general manager of Sonic Solutions’ Advanced Technology Group. “With the incorporation of these into the MOD Systems platform, we can provide a powerful end-to-end retail solution that combines the advantages of digital delivery with the permanency and portability of the DVD format.”

MOD Systems’ platform enables retailers to manage at both the corporate and store level a virtual inventory of digital movies and music to augment in-store stock. With the MOD solution, retailers and shoppers can sample music and videos, create custom music compilations, as well as burn movies and music from the MOD Systems catalogue.

“Retailers need a platform that supports multiple media applications, and MOD Systems provides a powerful solution,” said Dave Suden, chief technology officer for Rimage Corporation. “Using state-of-the-art Rimage robotics, digital publishing technology and permanent direct-to-disc printing, this single platform for both music and video production offers a very compelling return on investment. Together with their partners, MOD Systems has created a high-value, turnkey digital output solution that will allow retailers to participate in every dimension of the digital content revolution.”

Powerful Audiovisual Merchandising

MOD Systems provides retailers with a dedicated MOD Store Server Appliance and MOD Point of Purchase Device to control audiovisual sampling, merchandising and fulfillment of content. Retailers can effectively merchandise music and movies to consumers with MOD Systems’ content catalogues. The catalogues currently include more than one million music tracks from all major music labels, as well as trailers from ScreenPlay Inc., provider of the world’s largest movie trailer catalogue of more than 15,000 titles, including new releases. MOD Systems is also currently in discussions with major movie studios and independents to add video content to its platform.

“We’re thrilled to partner with MOD Systems, a company with tremendous expertise developing digital media hardware and software solutions,” said Mark Vrieling, president and CEO, ScreenPlay Inc. “We think there is a huge opportunity to help retailers create a better in-store experience and more effectively leverage audiovisual systems to educate consumers and increase sales.”
