Company History
The core MOD development team first met in 1996 at the University of Washington Human Interface Technologies Lab. They later went on to work together at Fullplay Media Systems, Inc.In 1998, as CTO and Senior Vice President of Research and Development for Fullplay Media Systems, Mark Phillips directed the company's technical vision and engineering initiatives, which included the invention of the Windows CE Media Player 5 for Pocket PC.
Meanwhile, Anthony Bay was Corporate Vice President and General Manager of the Digital Media Division at Microsoft Corp. While there, he was responsible for multimedia and DRM technologies, overseeing a team of 700 and a R & D budget of more than $100 million. It was during his team's creation and development of Windows Media technologies that Bay and Phillips began working together.
Several years later, Mark Phillips and Anthony Bay formed MOD Systems in April 2005 to address the market opportunity to develop an industry-leading system for in-store management, merchandising, and fulfillment of digital media.
Today, MOD Systems provides a sophisticated digital asset management solution for retailers which offers a lower cost of ownership compared to competing solutions. The platform is currently deployed by several Fortune 500 retail customers.
With headquarters in Seattle, MOD Systems is comprised of veteran software executives from Microsoft Corp., Loudeye Corp., Apple Computer, Inc., and Fullplay Media Systems, Inc. The MOD team has extensive experience in digital media, enterprise software, hardware development, and large-scale deployments. They have delivered numerous industry-leading digital media solutions, and hold a depth and breadth of experience unique to the industry.
