Just Back from EMA's Digital Media Pipeline Event
Thu, Sep 23, 2010For the last few months we have been working with the folks over at the Entertainment Merchants Association to bring something new and exciting to their one day conference called Digital Media Pipeline. The Digital Media Pipeline event focuses on opportunities in the digital delivery of home entertainment to the consumer - a perfect pairing for MOD. We just got back from the conference and it was a huge success.
As a co-sponsor, we handed out digital goodie bags to all attendees. The digital goodie bag consisted of an SD card and a GreenPlay SD Card Reader, with each SD card loaded with a new-release movie in GreenPlay format, PDF files containing company information of the event sponsors, and links to the presentations from the conference. We were excited to be able to offer a green solution to the traditional paper handouts. In addition, we also surprised attendees with a promo code for an additional rental movie of their choice. Almost every attendee lined up for the chance to use our Download2Go kiosk and choose their movie. As an added bonus, eight lucky cards also contained a golden ticket featuring an extra prize for that attendee. Our response was tremendous! Not only were participants reducing their impact on the environment, they were able to enjoy a digital movie in the process.
We had many people from the MOD team in LA to enjoy the show and listen to the speakers. Our CEO and chairman Anthony Bay gave a ten minute presentation introducing our ground-breaking solution and driving awareness of our current and upcoming locations.
I had the opportunity to sit on the ‘Ever Changing Business Models and Opportunities’ panel. This was an insightful discussion about where the demand for movies is headed – Would consumers rather rent or purchase digital titles? Will release window impact their choices? What new technology is available to give consumers what they want? Being a part of this panel and after experiencing the show and the response we received I feel confident MOD has a great place in the future.
Until next time,
